Citizen Inspired Journalism

Even a blind squirrel will eventually find a nut.  And while we’re not technically blind we had no idea what we’d find as we started digging into the stories which are posted on this site.  We are just normal folks who, through no fault of our own, were subjected to the tyranny of what has been an adult-use cannabis industry fueled by corruption that extends into law enforcement, the judiciary, lawyers and government officials who all have found a way to personally profit from these ongoing special pay-to-play relationships with the very criminals who were supposed to be vetted and kept out of this “all cash” industry.

It started out in San Diego back in 2016, where a small group of us “squirrels” who all had some interest in the adult-use cannabis industry started comparing notes and realized that the similarities we were experiencing were not happenstance.  We discovered we were being excluded, lied to, stolen from, racially profiled and abused through the judiciary and law enforcement, by a well-oiled machine of corrupt lawyers and lobbyists who were and still are, intent on creating a monopoly of the industry.

Our response to that was to assimilate the wide range of people and what we came to discover were their undisclosed interests in these licensed cannabis businesses which of course violated the mandatory disclosure laws that would have prevented the use of shell companies and proxies to stand in as “strawmen” to the actual business owners.

The problem is these laws are not being enforced, which has allowed a national coalition of Multi-State Operators (“MSO”) to develop their interests across the United States while preventing others from acquiring the licenses necessary to compete with them.

Blind Squirrel’s is our citizen-bred response to these practices.  We will post any story that helps expose these practices with a special emphasis on how certain government agencies and/or officials have been compromised in the process.
